Back in 2016, I was one of the founding team members of Badgerloop; a team created to participate in the inaugural SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. I had never been very interested in other engineering competition teams because I felt that the technology would never make it any further than the competition, but Hyperloop presented a different case. This is a technology and mode of transportation that currently only existed in Elon Musk’s white paper. This had the potential to make a real impact on the way people move around and live their lives.
I served as the team coordinator, managing outreach events and team communication. I also spearheaded the fabrication of the carbon fiber shell. Planning and organizing our transportation and time at the Design Weekend Competition at Texas A&M also fell under my jurisdiction. All of the hard work was worth it when we took 3rd place behind MIT and TU Delft, receiving the Outstanding Innovation Award.
